At Ambleside Nursery we want you and your family to feel part of your child’s education and welcome you to be as involved as possible with their learning. There will be lots of opportunities for you to meet with the Nursery team and we plan events during the year for you to attend and support your child. These events include sports day, our Christmas production and Easter performance, to name just a few.
We look forward to working with you and your child at the start of their learning journey.
Please see our ‘Latest News’ section for details of what our children have been learning through all of the wonderful activities that they have been exploring and taking part in.

Nursery sessions start at 8.30am and 12.30pm and although we appreciate it is very busy at our door at this time it is important that the children are all here and ready to come in.
Children who arrive late can miss the beginning of our learning time and may feel unsettled by walking in once the session has started. The Nursery doors will be closed 10 minutes after the start of the sessions and children arriving after this time will need to come into Nursery through the school office. If your child cannot attend their Nursery session please telephone the office to report their absence.
Morning session: 8:30am – 11:30am
Afternoon session: 12:30pm – 3:30pm
School Uniform and Clothing for all weather
Children in Nursery are expected to wear school uniform. Please see the uniform policy for full information.
In Nursery we play outside every day and encourage all of the children to come out. Please make sure they have a waterproof coat with them every day. Suitable footwear for wet weather will also be needed – wellies can be brought in to Nursery to change into and hung on your child’s peg. In hot weather we ask that children come into Nursery with sun cream, already applied, wear a hat and bring a water bottle, containing only water please.
Please check that all items of your child’s clothing are labelled with their name including hats, jumpers, cardigans, shoes, wellies and coats. We appreciate how expensive clothing can be to replace and want to help your child to be able to look after their belongings during the school day.
Each Friday the children have the opportunity to take home a library book to share with their family. Please ensure that children return their book and have a book bag or rucksack style bag to carry their book home in on Fridays.
