Year
Teachers should ensure a second PE lesson is planned and taught during the week to ensure full content coverage in addition to what the PPA Sports Coach Cover Supervisor teaches.

Key Stage 1 1 Dance

  • Themes = SMSC & Topic.   Skills to teach: Mirror Simple movement patterns, balance, coordination, Jumping, agility, perform and evaluate work

Gymnastics (taught by PPA Sports Coach Supervisor)

  • Themes = SMSC & Topic  Skills  to teach:  Copy and create sequences, Perform and evaluate work.

Games (taught by PPA Sports Coach Supervisor)

  • Playground games.  Skills: getting along, sharing, communicating, simple tactics, building confidence, taking risks.

Swimming

  • Skills: To build water confidence. Encourage to taking risks, Floating skills, awareness of safety and hygiene. A proficient basic stroke to swim.

 

2 Dance

  • Themes = SMSC & Topic.   Skills to teach: Create and perform Simple movement patterns and an understanding of working at different heights and speeds. Including balance, coordination, Jumping, agility, perform and evaluate work, which include partner and independent work

Gymnastics (taught by PPA Sports Coach Supervisor)

  • Themes = SMSC & Topic  Skills  to teach:  Create and perform sequences, evaluate and critique.

Games (taught by PPA Sports Coach Supervisor)

  • Ball games.  Skills: coordination, throwing and catching, simple tactics.

Swimming

  • Skills: To build water confidence. Encourage to taking risks, Floating skills, awareness of safety and hygiene. A proficient basic stroke to swim.

 

Lower Key Stage 2 3 Dance

  • Topics – Literacy / Drama   Skills to be taught: Improvisation, translating ideas, compare their performances with previous ones and demonstrate improvement to achieve their personal best. 

Gymnastics (taught by PPA Sports Coach Supervisor)

  • Skills to be taught. Risk Taking, develop flexibility, strength, technique, control and balance.

Invasion Games (taught by PPA Sports Coach Supervisor)

  • Skills to be taught: Strategies and tactics for attacking and defending, control of equipment, space awareness. e.g. Football, basketball, hockey, Rugby, Netball  (Aim is to incorporate a minimum of 2 sports) 

Net & Wall (taught by PPA Sports Coach Supervisor)

  • Skills to be taught: Coordination, Use a range of tactics and strategies to overcome opponents and direct competition.  e.g. Tennis, badminton, volleyball. (Aim is to incorporate a minimum of 1 sport) 

Athletics (taught by PPA Sports Coach Supervisor)

  • Skills to be taught: running, jumping, throwing, Analysing their performances and techniques.

Swimming

  • Skills to be taught – Perform safe – self rescue in different  water base situations / Risk taking, improve confidence, lead a healthy and active life. Aim: to swim 25m minimum in a range of strokes.

Outdoor and Adventure

  • Orienteering / Archery   – Robin Hood

 

4 Dance
