On Sunday 22nd November 16 children from Ambleside School were mascots and flag wavers at Nottingham Rugby Club. As the crowds entered the ground, the children huddled behind the stands ready for a briefing from the Nottingham Rugby officials; instructions were given; flags were handed out; and the excitement grew. Flag wavers positioned themselves in a tunnel on the pitch. It was a bitterly cold afternoon and the children waved their flags with great enthusiasm which helped to keep them warm. It was time. The Nottingham Rugby Club captain ran out, took the hand of the first child, and off they went. One by one, the Nottingham Rugby Players took the hands of Ambleside children and ran out onto the pitch with cheers of the crowd ringing around the ground. The children came off the pitch with huge smiles on their faces; talking to each other, and sharing their experiences. It was time to find a good spot and watch the game get underway. Thank you to all those children who attended, and parents for supporting the afternoon. Most importantly, a huge thank you to Nottingham Rugby for the opportunity to be mascots and flag wavers at the game, the children had a fantastic afternoon.
